Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk or stand mixer.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups whole milk.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil.
  • 1/2 cup sugar.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast.
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt.
  • 1 cup melted butter.
  • 1 cup brown sugar.
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon.
  • Maple icing Sugar, milk, butter, maple extract.

Instructions
 

  • Heat milk, oil, and sugar in a pan. Do not let it boil. Let it cool slightly.
  • Sprinkle yeast over the warm liquid. Let it sit for 10 minutes. It should look foamy.
  • Add 4 cups of flour. Stir until a dough forms. Cover and let rise for one hour.
  • Add the remaining flour, powder, soda, and salt. Mix well.
  • Roll dough into a large rectangle. Spread melted butter over it. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll the dough into a log. Cut into thick slices. Place in a greased pan. Let rise again.
  • Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes. Pour maple icing on top while warm.

Notes

  • Use warm milk, not hot milk.
  • Check your yeast for bubbles.
  • Do not over-mix the dough.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm spot.
  • Apply icing while rolls are still hot.
