Mary Berry Buttermilk Scones​ Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 450 g self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 100 g cold butter cubed
  • 50 g caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 150 ml buttermilk

Instructions
 

  • Set your oven to 220°C.
  • Line a baking sheet with paper.
  • This stops scones from sticking.
  • Put flour in a big bowl.
  • Add the baking powder.
  • Mix them well together.
  • Add cold butter cubes to flour.
  • Use your fingers to rub it in.
  • It should look like breadcrumbs.
  • Stir in the caster sugar.
  • Mix it evenly through the flour.
  • Beat eggs and buttermilk together.
  • Save one tablespoon for later.
  • This is your glaze.
  • Pour wet mix into dry mix.
  • Stir with a knife gently.
  • Stop when dough forms.
  • Put dough on floured surface.
  • Roll to 2cm thick.
  • Cut with round cutter.
  • Press down straight.
  • Place scones on baking sheet.
  • Brush tops with saved mix.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes.
