Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • A sturdy wooden spoon.
  • Clean kitchen towel
  • Pizza stone or baking sheet.
  • Rolling Pin

Ingredients

  • 1 package active dry yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar.
  • 1 cup warm water.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil.
  • 1 teaspoon salt.
  • 2.5 to 3 cups all-purpose flour.

Instructions

  • Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for five minutes. It should look bubbly and foamy.
  • Add olive oil and salt to the bowl. Slowly stir in the flour. Stop when the dough pulls away.
  • Put dough on a floured surface. Knead it for five minutes. It should feel smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in an oiled bowl. Cover it with a damp towel. Let it double in size for one hour.
  • Punch the dough down gently. Roll it out to your desired thickness. Add your favorite tasty toppings.
  • Preheat your oven to 450°F. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. The crust should be golden brown.

Notes

  • Use warm water, not hot water.
  • Hot water can kill the yeast.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm spot.
  • Don't add too much flour at once.
  • A pizza stone creates a crispier bottom.
  • Brush the crust with garlic butter.
