Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Parchment paper
  • Rubber spatula
  • Sharp knife

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cold butter cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F first. Line your pan with parchment paper.
  • Leave some hanging over the sides. This makes removal super easy later.
  • Mix flour, sugar, and salt together. Cut in the cold butter pieces.
  • Use a mixer until crumbly. Press mixture into your prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Beat eggs in a large bowl. Add corn syrup and brown sugar next.
  • Mix in melted butter and vanilla extract. Stir in the chopped pecans last.
  • Pour over the baked crust immediately.
  • Return pan to the oven now. Bake for 30-35 minutes more.
  • The filling should be set but jiggly. Let it cool completely before cutting.
  • This step is very important.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for the crust.
  • It creates the perfect crumbly texture.
  • Don't skip the parchment paper step.
  • Toast your pecans for deeper flavor.
  • Let bars cool completely before cutting.
  • Cut with a sharp, clean knife.
  • Store in an airtight container always.
  • They last up to five days.
  • Freeze them for longer storage too.
