Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound fresh green beans.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter.
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms.
  • 2 cloves minced garlic.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour.
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream.
  • 1 teaspoon salt.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
  • 1 1/2 cups French fried onions.

Instructions
 

  • Boil green beans for five minutes. Drain them and put them in ice water.
  • Melt butter in a large skillet. Cook mushrooms and garlic until they are soft.
  • Whisk flour into the butter. Slowly add milk and cream while stirring.
  • Simmer the sauce until it gets thick. Add salt and pepper for flavor.
  • Mix beans and sauce together. Pour into a dish and bake at 350°F.
  • Top with fried onions after 20 minutes. Bake for 10 more minutes until golden.
