Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups self-rising flour.
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
  • 1 cup cold salted butter cubed.
  • 1 large egg beaten.
  • 1 1/2 cups cold buttermilk.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a pan with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and soda together. Use a large bowl for this.
  • Add cold butter cubes to the flour. Use a pastry blender to mix it. It should look like small peas.
  • Stir in the beaten egg and buttermilk. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
  • Cover the bowl. Put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Put dough on a floured surface. Pat it into a thick circle.
  • Use a cutter to make rounds. Place them touching on the baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Do not overwork the dough.
