Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Non-stick Frying Pan
  • Sharp knife
  • Small Grater
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 lb GROUND TURKEY
  • 2 SPRING ONIONS
  • 1 tsp FRESH GINGER
  • 1 RED CHILI
  • 2 tbsp FRESH CILANTRO
  • 1 tbsp SOY SAUCE
  • 1 large EGG
  • 1 tsp SESAME OIL
  • 4 BURGER BUNS

Instructions

  • Place your ground turkey in the large mixing bowl. Make sure the meat is cold from the fridge. This helps the patties stay together much better.
  • Finely dice the spring onions and the red chili. Add them to the bowl with the turkey meat. Grate the fresh ginger directly over the mixture now.
  • Chop the fresh cilantro and add it to bowl. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil. Crack the egg into the bowl to bind everything.
  • Use your hands to mix the ingredients together. Do not overwork the meat or it gets tough. Form the mix into four even, round patties.
  • Heat your frying pan over a medium flame. Add a little oil to the hot pan surface. Place the patties in the pan very carefully.
  • Cook the burgers for five minutes on one side. Do not press down on the meat with spatula. This keeps all the delicious juices inside the patty.
  • Flip the burgers over to the other side. Cook for another five to six minutes total. The meat should be cooked all the way through.
  • Toast your burger buns in the same pan. Place the cooked patty on the warm toasted bun. Add your favorite toppings like lettuce and tomato now.

Notes

  • Keep the turkey meat cold until you are ready.
  • Do not press the burgers while they are cooking.
  • Wet your hands to stop the meat from sticking.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for safety.
  • Let the burgers rest for two minutes after cooking.
  • Dice the vegetables very small for a better mix.
  • Toast the buns to prevent them from getting soggy.
  • Use fresh ginger instead of the dried powder version.
