Measuring Spoons
- 2 SALMON FILLETS
- 3 tbsp SOY SAUCE
- 2 tbsp HONEY
- 1 tsp FRESH GINGER
- 1 clove GARLIC
- 1 tbsp OLIVE OIL
- 1 tsp SESAME SEEDS
Pat your salmon fillets very dry with paper. Season the skin side with salt and pepper. This helps the skin get very crispy.
Heat your pan over a medium-high flame. Add a small splash of olive oil. Wait until the oil is very hot.
Place the salmon skin-side down in the pan. Press it down gently with your tongs. Let it cook for four minutes undisturbed.
Mix your soy sauce, honey, and ginger together. Grate the garlic into the small bowl. Stir until the honey dissolves completely.
Flip the salmon over to the other side. Pour the sauce directly into the hot pan. The liquid will start to bubble fast.
Spoon the bubbling sauce over the fish repeatedly. This is called basting the salmon. Do this until the sauce turns thick.
- Always dry the salmon skin before cooking it.
- Keep the heat at medium-high for crispy skin.
- Do not move the fish for the first minutes.
- Use fresh ginger instead of dried ground ginger.
- Baste the fish constantly to keep it moist.
- Check that the salmon is pink in the middle.
- Let the fish rest for two minutes before serving.
