Equipment

  • Non-stick Frying Pan
  • Sharp kitchen knife
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Kitchen tongs
  • Measuring Spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 SALMON FILLETS
  • 3 tbsp SOY SAUCE
  • 2 tbsp HONEY
  • 1 tsp FRESH GINGER
  • 1 clove GARLIC
  • 1 tbsp OLIVE OIL
  • 1 tsp SESAME SEEDS

Instructions

  • Pat your salmon fillets very dry with paper. Season the skin side with salt and pepper. This helps the skin get very crispy.
  • Heat your pan over a medium-high flame. Add a small splash of olive oil. Wait until the oil is very hot.
  • Place the salmon skin-side down in the pan. Press it down gently with your tongs. Let it cook for four minutes undisturbed.
  • Mix your soy sauce, honey, and ginger together. Grate the garlic into the small bowl. Stir until the honey dissolves completely.
  • Flip the salmon over to the other side. Pour the sauce directly into the hot pan. The liquid will start to bubble fast.
  • Spoon the bubbling sauce over the fish repeatedly. This is called basting the salmon. Do this until the sauce turns thick.

Notes

  • Always dry the salmon skin before cooking it.
  • Keep the heat at medium-high for crispy skin.
  • Do not move the fish for the first minutes.
  • Use fresh ginger instead of dried ground ginger.
  • Baste the fish constantly to keep it moist.
  • Check that the salmon is pink in the middle.
  • Let the fish rest for two minutes before serving.
