- 500 g STRONG BREAD FLOUR
- 60 g CASTOR SUGAR
- 1 tsp FINE SALT
- 7 g ACTIVE DRY YEAST
- 150 ml WHOLE MILK
- 2 LARGE EGGS
- 100 g UNSALTED BUTTER
- 1 tsp VANILLA EXTRACT
- 1 liter VEGETABLE OIL
- 100 g EXTRA SUGAR for coating
Warm your milk in the small saucepan. It should be warm but not boiling. Add your yeast and a little sugar. Let it sit for five minutes until foamy.
Sift your flour into the mixing bowl. Add the remaining sugar and the salt. Mix these dry ingredients together very well. This ensures an even taste in every bite.
Add the whisked eggs to the yeast mixture. Pour this liquid into your dry flour bowl. Turn on your mixer at a low speed. Watch the dough start to come together.
Add the softened butter piece by piece. Keep mixing until the dough is very smooth. It should be stretchy and slightly sticky. This takes about eight to ten minutes.
Cover the bowl with a clean damp cloth. Place it in a warm, dark spot. Let the dough double in size. This usually takes about one hour.
Punch the dough down to release the air. Roll it out on a floured surface. Use your cutter to make your doughnut shapes. Let them rest again for thirty minutes.
Heat your oil in the deep pan. Drop the dough rings in very carefully. Fry each side until they look golden brown. This takes about two minutes per side.
Remove them using a slotted metal spoon. Toss them in sugar while they are hot. Let them cool on the wire rack. Enjoy your fresh Gordon Ramsay Doughnut Recipe!
