Ingredients

  • 2 shots of hot espresso or 1/2 cup of strong coffee.
  • 1 cup of oat milk or whole milk for creaminess.
  • 2 tablespoons of ripe mashed banana.
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup for the sweetness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract for flavor.
  • 1/8 teaspoon of ground cinnamon for a spice.
  • A tiny pinch of salt to balance the sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon of toasted walnut pieces for garnish.
  • Extra whipped cream to put on top today.

Instructions

Blend the Fruit Milk

  • Place the milk, mashed banana, and maple syrup in a blender. Blend until the liquid is very smooth and white.

Warm the Flavored Liquid

  • Pour the banana milk into a small saucepan over medium heat. Let it get hot but do not let it boil today.

Brew the Strong Coffee

  • Prepare your espresso shots or brew a very dark cup of coffee. Pour the hot coffee into your large mug now.

Add the Sweet Spices

  • Stir the vanilla, cinnamon, and salt into the hot coffee. This creates a very fragrant base for the milk.

Froth the Hot Milk

  • Use a hand frother in the warm banana milk for 30 seconds. This makes a thick and very airy foam.

Pour Over the Coffee

  • Slowly pour the hot banana milk over the spiced coffee. Hold back the foam with a spoon until the end.

Top with Creamy Foam

  • Spoon the remaining banana foam on top of the latte. It should look like a soft white cloud.

Garnish with Nutty Bits

  • Sprinkle the toasted walnuts and a bit more cinnamon on top. Serve the latte while it is very hot today.

Notes

  • Use a very ripe banana for the most natural sugar.
  • Strain the milk if you want a very thin drink today.
  • Use oat milk to get a much nuttier "bread" taste.
  • Toast the walnuts in a pan to get a better smell.
  • Do not overheat the milk or it will lose the fruit taste.
  • Add a drop of almond extract for a deeper flavor.
  • Use a high-quality coffee bean for a smooth finish.
